This is a cool little video that I am posting mostly for the music by Li Jianhong. It took me a long time to appreciate Jianhong, but now I’m a fairly big fan. When I get around to it, I’ll post a nice track on here. For the time being, Midwestern US (home) serves as the visuals for a fairly epic freak out. I am still waiting for China to blow my mind consistently, but there are many signs. Don’t miss on the Anthology of Chinese Experimental Music 1992-2008, for example.
한국판 트레아티스.
Great group performance of Cardew’s ‘Treatise.’ cincake actually posted another version of this as performed by Angharad Davies, Tim Parkinson, John Lely, Rhodri Davies, James Saunders, and Lee Patterson (I’ve heard most of these names, and enjoy them all). The version above is well on the side of electroacoustic noise, but should make for a good listen, certainly.
Amazing footage of outer space, much like a previous post I made. This one is set to more drone than the Pan Sonic sound of the prior one, and it makes for an amazing watch.
Sound by Machinefabriek. This is a really cool concept, and I don’t think I’ve seen this on Tumblr. Takes sound, and then provides a window to “look” and the shapes of the sound. Very interesting, and probably just scratches the surface of what will ultimately be accomplished in this niche.
I haven’t been that active on Vimeo for a while, so when I logged in today to do some time-killing BS, I happened upon this video. I haven’t seen it on Tumblr, so I figured I’d embed this. The video in question is C. Spencer Yeh, and it is a fairly recent performance (the video posted 3 days ago) in his current style (and, no, I’m not referring to the awesome ‘stache and lack of glasses (I like all Spencer looks)). The camera work and sound are really great, so give it a listen. - P
